Meet the Bantog Backpackers
Bantog
Backpackers is a family who travels together. We don’t just travel, we
travel the cheapest way possible.

Daddy Jayson Bantog, 37 y/o is a Caviteño and partly Bataeño. An alumni of University of the East Recto, graduate of Bachelor of Science in Business Management. Carrying heavy baggage and baby James is his usual obligation when we travel. He also does the installation of tents, creation of bonfire, if any and most importantly, cooking, especially when we go to places like Anawangin.
Mommy Rochelle, 36 y/o is a native of Balanga, Bataan. A Mapuan Alumni, and a graduate of Civil Engineering and Environmental & Sanitary Engineering. Works as a Senior Engineer at National Grid Corporation of the Philippines. Di ako magaling sa english grammar kaya wag na pansinin ang mga maling grammar sa blogs, hahaha =) Responsible for packing and unpacking of our things when we travel. Also does most of the researching about the cheapest accommodation, cheapest airfare, what vehicles to ride, bus terminals and other must-places to go.
Kuya Jayson Patrick, 12 y/o is the eldest among the siblings. Standing tall at a height of 5'8 at his very young age. He is currently a 2nd year high school student at Tomas del Rosario College, belonging to a Special Science and Math class. A black belter in Taekwondo and a swimmer. He once played the guitar instrument but was so young then. He promised to continue his guitar lessons next summer. We are so proud of him because he had been a constant honor student ever since he went to school. A talented young boy but super mahiyain.
Kuya Joshua Anthony 10 y/o is currently a 5th grader at St. Joseph City School of Balanga, a constant honor student. Also a black belter in Taekwondo and a swimmer and has brought home a number of medals from Taekwondo Competitions, swimming and academic honors from school. A very responsible kuya to his younger siblings, he thinks like an old man already, very concern about his parents.
Ate Janelle Roxanne, 7 y/o is a 3rd grader student of St. Joseph City School of Balanga. The speaker of the house, hehehe =) So talkative and so loud. She embraces everyone, very lovable. She loves to dress up, so maarte (at least we know that she's a girl). She loves the beach!
and our youngest, our baby, the darling of the family, James Raphael. He stays at home and do some laundry, hehehe, joke! He is so magulo and loves fighting, rather playing with his siblings. He loves nature and the beach, and everything that has got to do with water.
our usual tambayan... terminals
We often travel by commuting, by bus, tricycle, habal-habal, jeepneys, ferries/roro, and by plane. For us traveling using a private vehicle is already a pleasure! We never experience traveling by asking the assistance of a travel agency coz I know that most of the time that would be more costly. I always research on how we can save and travel cheaper.
When it was just the five of us... in Camiguin
Cotivas Island in Caramoan, Camarines Sur
The good thing in traveling with family is that you can share everything...food, soap, shampoos, toothpaste, a towel, a pillow and a blanket . Traveling and family make a perfect combination.
When we fly we never pay for baggage coz when we travel we usually bring 3 to 4 backpacks only. The fifth bag contains only food and water/drinks. We always make sure that we have plenty of food in our bags kasi pag hindi lagot kami, iinit ulo nila, hehehe =)
Kids
can learn early about fraction and division if you grew up with more siblings, right?
Some people are thinking that it is very difficult to bring kids into
traveling, but for us traveling isn’t complete if we are not with our
kids. Enjoyment to the highest
level! We may be different with other
travelers because they prefer to travel alone or with their friends, we travel
to bond more. And the more time we spend with them, the more happy memories we
can still in them...A happy family is an earlier heaven as I’ve read in some
quotes which is so much true to us, we may be quarreling a lot because we just
want to give them the best among
everything, they may not understand us now but in time I know that they will appreciate everything that we have shown them... As a parent we want to make the most of their childhood,
because I know that when they became teenagers, they will be with their peers
most of the time…
our favorite place, Anawangin!, just 2 hours bus travel from home

The greatest happiness in life are the ones spent with
families...
Great Blog. I can relate much as we always tag along our litle one. Yup, we are also budget travellers. As early as 8 months I introduce travelling to my son. And yes you are very right that travelling is the best bonding a family could have. I agree, pag may bata dapat may pagkain laging bitbit. Hahaha. Khalidoscope World
