Marinduque : Poctoy White Beach

Poctoy White Beach is located at Torrijos, Marinduque and is owned by the municipal government. We arrived here by riding a jeepney from Boac to Sta. Cruz for Php47 fare and from Sta Cruz to Torrijos for Php40.  From Boac, travel time can reach up to 2 hours.  Aside from the Moriones Festival, the province is also known for its fine beaches. And also, Marinduqueños are known for their warm hospitality, we've experienced that a lot of times.

Entrance fee to the beach is Php20 for adults and Php10 for kids, environmental fee is Php10 each.

Poctoy White Beach has a one kilometer stretch of white fine sands.  The Mt. Malindig can be viewed from here.  It can get really crowded on a holy week just like what we've experienced... We were not able to rent any cottages because the beach is already full of people.

We had a hard time waiting for the jeepney going back to Sta. Cruz...the travel time going to Sta Cruz took us an hour and a half.

We stayed at Tahanan sa Isok during our stay at Marinduque.

Marinduque : Sta. Cruz Church

Marinduqueños have a special place in my heart because the first people who became my friends when I was in college was them, with special mention to Marianne Revilla whom I almost met again when we got here in the summer of 2012.

Sta. Cruz is a first class municipality in Marinduque.  Sta. Cruz alone has white sand beaches, caves, waterfalls, rich marine resources and an amazing and impressive hospitality of the locals.  We came from Torrijos and we arrived at the jeepney terminal at around 4:30pm but they said that it is already the last trip for the day. Our fellow tourists who were already in the jeepney were so uneasy on giving us even the floor seats.  My husband and my brother-in-law are willing to ride the top-load of the jeep just for us to get back to Boac.  Thank You fellow tourists, you have no pity with my 4 kids.  The locals then arranged another trip just for my family, they are the most wonderful people I've met.  We found our fellow tourists  halted on the side of the road, the jeepney was discouraged.  Be generous all the time, most especially to kids and elderly =)

One of the must see places in the municipality is the Sta Cruz Cathedral Church.  It was built in 1714 and has an impressive Hispanic design. The church was designed with a mix of lime and coral stones.

From Boac, take an hour jeepney ride for Php47.  The jeepney trips here usually end at 5pm...so if you don't have your own transportation, be sure to be at the jeepney terminals before 5pm.

Marinduque Hot Springs Resort (formerly known as Susana Hot Spring) is located in Brgy. Malbog, Buenavista, Marinduque. Travel time 1 to 1/2 hours jeepney ride away from Boac and 30 to 45 minutes from Gasan, jeepney fare as of April 2012 is Php45. Another tryk ride going inside the resort is Php50.

We paid Php50 for the entrance fee for adults and Php40 for kids. Cottages are at Php150.

there are also Morions at the resort...

Marinduque Hot Springs is located around 300 meters from Malbog Sulfur Springs that locals claimed to be medicinal, is free from sulfur despite the proximity to the area.

After soaking at the hot pools of the spring on a summer day, we flagged a tryk going outside the resort at Php50, and then took a jeepney going to Gasan Municipality at Php27.

You know what is so great and amazing about Marinduqueños??? They are extremely honest people... my brother-in-law left his little baggage in front of Gasan Municipal Hall.  My hubby and Raymart went back to take chances in getting it back, and after two to three hours, it is still there...

From Gasan we went back to Boac by riding a jeepney at Php27.

We stayed at Tahanan sa Isok in Boac during our stay in Marinduque.
