Sun Yat Sen Memorial Hall



The National Sun Yat Sen Memorial Hall is a memorial to the Republic of China's National Father, Dr. Sun Yat Sen. Taiwan's government began the construction in 1964 and was completed in 1972. The total building area covers 29,464 square meters in an open space of 115,000 square meters.  It contain displays of Sun's life and the revolution he led, and is also a multi-purpose social, educational and cultural center for the public.

The main entrance to the hall contains a statue of Sun Yat Sen.  Every hour there is a formal changing of the guards, which is a popular tourist attraction.  The building also includes a performance hall, an exhibition center of about 1,000 square meters, a multi media theater, an audio-visual center, lecture halls, and a library with over 300,000 books.  


The National Sun Yat Sen Memorial Hall may not look inviting  to tour around but this is worth a visit.  Additionally it has a great view of Taipei 101 that was set in a beautiful park full of flowers.  The surrounding garden looks peaceful and relaxing.



The memorial hall is exactly located at Xinyi District, Taipei, Taiwan.  It is easily accessible through LRT Blue Line (5 stations away from Taipei Main Station).  It is also a few minutes walk from the famous Taipei 101.
