Our strong determination to finish the pentalogy led us back to Rodriguez, Rizal. We hiked the trilogy mountains Mount Pamitinan, Mount Hapunang Banoi and Mount Binacayan in September 3-4, 2016. It's time to accomplish the pentalogy today, October 8, 2016.
We met at Quezon Avenue because we have a service vehicle going to Rodriguez. In commuting going to Rodriguez, Rizal, make a way going to Cubao. There are vans with Php50 fare going there. From Poblacion, flag a trike going to Brgy. Mascap.
At Brgy. Mascap, register at the Barangay. There is a Php50 registration fee and a required guide fee at Php500 per mountain (Php500 is good up to 5 persons). Mountains hikable in Brgy. Mascap are Mount Ayaas, Mount Sipit Ulang and the newly opened trail going to Mount Oro. They will be opening a new trail and will name it "The Seven Peaks" in October 23.
We were assigned with Kuya Roland "Ado" Francisco. He is well traversed at the 3 mountains. Contact him prior to your climb at 0975-9270098.

midhike after an hour... we can view the summit from here... |
From the jump-off is half an hour walking before finally starting the trek, and from there is an all-assault up to the top. The trail is really exhausting because we felt no gush of wind. We were quite lucky that we hiked after the rain but with the unforgiving heat of the sun, it can really tire and thirst you.
My husband was continuously shaking off my back because mosquitoes are attacking me in great number. This is the mountain I hiked that has a lot of mosquitoes, huhu! I got 70+ bites and glad-fully, I have brought a cream for insect bites and right after returning home immediately taken my son's antibiotic for allergies. When you plan to hike Mount Ayaas, do not forget to bring and apply insect repellent to your exposed and even unexposed skin. I am wearing long-sleeves but they have biten me on my both arms.
The trail is mostly forested and grassland going up to the summit. We reached the summit 2 hours from the jump-off.
few minutes before reaching the summit |
the blossoming subdivisions in Rodriguez that consumed the town's area |
the flag at the summit |
jump-shot sana |
tweenie dri-fit shirts =) |
We hiked down after another 2 hours and had our lunch at the jump-off. There is a water source in the middle of the hike of Mount Ayaas.
ending the trail with river crossing |
There are lot of carinderias beside the Registration area. Don't worry being hungry.
After an hour of rest, we immediately proceeded with our next hike, Mount Sipit Ulang. Because we did the twin-hike, we chose the Banayad trail. It is just an hour hike going to the summit.
It rained so hard after our Ayaas climb that made the trail so slippery and difficult. Still, we made it to the summit after 45 minutes.
I recommend that you try the Paniki trail and traverse Banayad trail. Paniki trail has cave passages and will require hikers to do some acrobats but will take 2-3 hours going to the summit. If you can arrive early, better try this trail and do a twin-hike to Mount Ayaas.
starting the trail with river crossing |
bamboo trees along the trail |
lipa leaves, that when contacted to your skin, will leave you itching up to 5 days |
After 45 minutes of muddy and rock-formation ascend, you will be amazed reaching the top... Again, there are a lot of mosquitoes, bring and apply insect repellent.
And now, oras na para mag emo!
