Puerto Galera

I've been to Puerto Galera in 2004 pero trabaho lang ang ipinunta but this time I am with my hubby and 4 kids.

For those who are planning to go to Puerto Galera, there are many Batangas City bound buses in Cubao.  Bus fare from Cubao to Batangas Pier Php175.  Boat ride Batangas City Pier to White Beach and vice versa Php450, terminal fee Php20, environmental fee Php30.

At the pier, there are a lot of people who will come to you and offer you room accommodations. Beachfront rooms are at Php1500 (good for 2 persons), Php2000 (good for 3 persons), Php2,500 (family room).  But you can save more if you will get accommodations right at Puerto Galera most especially if you will not be arriving on a Saturday.  There are air-conditioned rooms good for 2 persons at Php1,000.  We got our room good for the six of us at Php1,500.00/night (tawad to the max!).  Don't be desperate in finding rooms because the houses for rent mushroomed at the back of the beach.  You just have to walk a little...Tent is Php300 with common C.R.

Bring extra cash at Puerto Galera because ATM's can be reached only at Poblacion.  They only have 2 atm locations there, one is rural bank and the other bank is Allied Bank.  The bank is charging Php55 for Php5,000 withdrawal and Php99 for Php10,000 withdwaral above.  Trike ride from White Beach to bayan is Php100-150.  White Beach is 7 kilometers away from Poblacion.

On our first day...
my princess is soooooo ready for the beach <3

Puerto Galera, a coastal town, is well known among tourists for its numerous pocket beaches and many snorkeling and scuba diving spots.  The area was designated a Man and Biosphere Reserve of UNESCO in 1973 and has some of the most diverse coral reef diving in Asia.  The marine environment has benefited in recent years from the influx of tourist dollars.  This has seen a huge reduction in the number of fishermen in the area, as they gain higher revenue from tourists.
Among the famous beaches in Puerto Galera are Sabang Beach and White Beach, which have an active nightlife with numerous bars and restaurants.  Both beaches also have an array of first-class and economy- class accommodations.
Sabang Beach is the main destination for foreign tourists, while White Beach remains popular with local travelers.  Big La Laguna Beach is popular for local swimmers and snorkelers.  Since 2001, White Beach has seen uncontrolled development.  New  restaurants and places to stay are rapidly encroaching on the beach itself and little remains of the once charming beach.  Puerto Galera town is a pleasant but sleepy Philippine town with few attractions.  It has a large central catholic church and a pier area, with a selection of bistros and cafes.

muni-muni =)

Puerto Galera is listed by the "Club of the Most Beautiful Bays of the World", and is the only bay in the Philippines to be listed there.

on board... Puerto Galera to Batangas City port

boats going to Batangas City port

We were a little traumatized traveling via small boats to Puerto Galera... sa sobrang alon pabalik, we knew that the boat will be sinking. The passengers were already crying but I made sure that my kids are wearing their proper life vest.  Keep calm and be alarmed all the time.  We stopped a lot of times in the middle of the sea because of big waves.  Good thing we were still able to cross the sea safely.  My camera did'nt get wet, hehe.   Anyway, there is another option in going to Puerto Galera.  When we get here the first time, there are ferry boats or ro-ro boats that are bigger and I guess safer.  But you will be dropped at the Poblacion, and then take a trike going to the White Beach.  We enjoyed Puerto Galera despite the heavy and big waves going home =)

  2. Hello po peeyadalida, actually wala po ako nakuha number ng may ari... but if u will not be coming on a Saturday, marami po room accommodations sa likod ng beach area, starting at Php 1000. There will be lots of person who will offer you accommodations right at the port but it is actually much cheaper if u will get them at Puerto Galera... Here's a link of some of the hotels/rooms for rent at galera http://www.puertogalera.org/

  3. Hi! From your experience in PG, is it ok for us to just commute going there, get the ferry boat from there, without having no experience at all, then after we get to sabang, walk-in to one of the resorts there. We plan to go there this coming april 17-19,'14. What do you suggest? Pls reply. thanks so much! :)

  4. We haven't been to Sabang Beach, but the boats going there is also at the Batangas Pier. Sabang Beach is approximately 3 hours from Manila. Sabang is located at the northern part of Puerto Galera, which is 10 minutes jeepney ride away from Poblacion. From what I've read, Sabang bound boats leaves at 7:45am, 9:45am, 10:45am, 12:45pm, 2:45pm and 4:45pm... But boat rides during the afternoon can be very bumpy, so i guess it will be better to cross Sabang in the morning... If Sabang can be reached from Poblacion within 10 minutes ride, you can buy some food and other necessities there... You can also reach Sabang by riding the much bigger water transportation like the ro-ro's. You can arrive at Poblacion then just ride a jeepney or trike, or ride the smaller boats going directly to Sabang. Happy vacation!!!
