Corregidor, a historical getaway!

Corregidor Island, only 48 kilometers west of Manila, is already part of Cavite.

The island is also called "The Rock" for its rocky landscape and the heavy fortifications, along with Caballo Island, about 1.7 kilometers (1.10 miles) south, divide the entrance of Manila Bay into the North and South Channel.

The tadpole-shaped island, with its tail running eastward, is about 6.5 kilometers (4.0 miles) long, about 2.0 kilometers (1.2. miles) wide at its widest with a total land area of about 900  heactares.  The highest elevation is at 589 ft (180 meters) on the topside.  The island is divided into 4 sections: Topside, Middleside, Bottomside and the Tailside.

Corregidor and Caballo islands are remnants of a volcanic crater, the Corregidor Caldera, which was last active abou one million years ago.  However, PHILVOCS still classifies Corregidor as a potentially active volcano.

from Corregidor to Mariveles, super maalon!

We went to Corregidor via Brgy. Cabcaben, Mariveles, Bataan.  It is 3 nautical miles away with 30 minutes travel time from Brgy. Cabcaben. Instead of celebrating a Christmas Party for the whole group, my boss opted for a better party, we toured Corregidor... My boss paid Php1200 roundtrip  for each boat, he rented around 6 boats for all of us.

When we arrived at Corregidor we just paid Php200 each for the tour.  We also brought with us our lunch.
