Thunderbird Resort, Poro Point, La Union
I was so lucky and fortunate to participate and be included in the annual planning session of our Division. I was so excited because they planned it to happen at Thunderbird Poro Point, La Union. The "No Other Woman" Resort...
A little history about the place...
The Poro Point Freeport Zone used to house the former
Wallace Air Station. The enactment of R.A. 7227 (Bases Conversion and
Development Act) on March 19, 1992 and Proclamation No, 216 on July 27,
1993 effectively transferred the stewardship of the Freeport to the
Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) to facilitate its
conversion into a productive economic growth center.
On June 29, 1993, former President Fidel V. Ramos issued Executive Order
No. 103 establishing John Hay Development Corporation as a subsidiary
and implementing arm of BCDA for Camp John Hay. This was subsequently
amended to include the development of Wallace Air Station, thereby
renaming it to John Hay Poro Point Development Corporation. It was
under JPDC when the operation, management and development of the San
Fernando International Seaport and San Fernando Airport were turned over
to BCDA on February 1, 1997 and February 1, 1998, respectively.
On October 2002, President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo issued Executive
Order No. 132 renaming the John Hay Poro Point Development Corporation
to John Hay Management Corporation for John Hay Special Economic Zone,
and at the same time, created the Poro Point Management Corporation
(PPMC) to manage the Poro Point Freeport Zone.
Thunderbird Resort has rented the place for more than 50 years now.
Thunderbird Poro Point Resort is located 430 kilometers north of Manila, 2 kilometers away from the National Road. It is 4 to 5 hours drive from Manila. The newly opened TPLEX made our road trip shorter.
As soon as you enter the vicinity, the super accommodating and attentive staffs will welcome you. Making sure you are provided with everything you need. There is also a very refreshing lemongrass iced tea welcome drinks =)
The place looks so romantic and so charming. The Santorini-inspired resort will really make you feel that you are at the Mediterranean.

They have bicycles that can be rented for free to roam the area. I enjoyed it for two mornings =)

Our rooms were cleaned everyday. Every room has a veranda where the view of the sea can be seen and sunsets can be witnessed. The only one missing is my husband =(

It has been said that sunsets in Santorini are the best in the world. But here in Thunderbird Poro Point, I really waited for the sunset and it was so breath taking and so romantic!
