Hive Hotel : another Green but Chic Hotel
The Cocoon Boutique became my favorite hotel because of its
advocacy to Greenery. When I entered The
Hive Hotel, it really feels like the Cocoon Hotel. The receptionist told me that this is their
second hotel after Cocoon.
It is a three (3) star hotel with 51 rooms. They describe the hotel as compact, comfortable and complete while being one with nature.
I am so lucky to have a Sneak Peek stay at The Hive. Some
services, areas, facilities are soon to be launched.
A little story about Hive (as I've read in their info pamphlets):
A passion for people, an imaginative sense of fun, a desire for nurturing the environment - these are the elements that paved the way for the birth of Hive Hotel. The owners Atty Boy and Gigi Vinzon combined their innovative spirit and their commitment to providing sustainable accommodations to create a refreshing hotel experience for guests with modern needs. Their vision resulted to a distinctive modern retro hotel that promises an unforgettable stay.

and is LEED-registered (Leadership in Environment and Energy Design), and is
currently targeting to be the first LEED-certified New Construction in the
Philippine Hotel Industry
Hive Green Features include:
- Rain and ground water harvesting in a big capacity cistern for toilet flushing, plant irrigation and general house cleaning.
- Dual piping system to separate grey and potable water.
- Water saving fixtures like faucets with aerators,and low flow “Water Sense” certified water closets.
- Use of Photovoltaic Solar System powers 60% of the rooms
- Skylight at the Ballroom; Glassblocks at the stairwell and pantries for natural lighting
- Use of energy efficient lighting fixtures and appliances; LED lights, LED TV, Inverter-type airconditioners, absorption type minibar ref, and many others.
- Use of Energy Recovery Ventilators.
- Sky Garden with unique Water Feature Jacuzzis.
- Use of recovered chilled water from aircon condensation to cool the al-fresco and kitchen areas, and to water the plants.
- Use of reclaimed wood and other renewable building materials.
- Cool building envelope through use of terracotta wall cladding and low-E glass windows.

What I liked most from my short stay? The staff are all very accommodating, friendly and trained. They will gladly assist you from the entrance of the hotel to your room. Filipino Hospitality at its finest.
I also got excited to use the vintage black rotary dial telephones, hihi =)
Hope to be back at The Hive as soon as the jacuzzis are finished.
