Odaiba, Tokyo

 

Odaiba is a large artificial island in Tokyo Bay, Japan.  It is a haven for shopping and entertainment in Japan. It has giant Ferris wheels, concert halls, amusement arcades, restaurants, theme parks.

Odaiba is located on the western part of Central Tokyo.  This artificial island is linked to Tokyo via the Rainbow Bridge.

The main attractions in Odaiba are the Statue of Liberty, Rainbow Bridge and Unicorn Gundam.  There are also three museums and these are Museum of Maritime Science, Miraikan, and Unko (Poop) Museum.

How to get to and from Odaiba?
Coming from Shibuya and Shinjuku Stations, take the Rinkai Line (via JR Saikyo Line) and get off at Tokyo teleport Station.  You can also take the bus from Asakusa.  Just go to Suijo Bus Pier (one minute walk from Asakusa Station and take the Hotaluna or Emeraldas bus.  Bus tickets are 1,720 yen for adults and 860 yen for kids.
You can also travel the chepaest way via bus from Shinigawa  and Tamachi Stations (Odaiba Rainbow Bus or Km Flower Bus).  Bus fare is 220 yen

Tokyo Skytree

 

Tokyo Skytree, like the Tokyo Tower, is a television broadcasting tower.  Tokyo Skytree stands at 634 meters (2,080 feet) in height.

Tokyo Skytree is exactly located at 1-Chome 1-2 Oshiage, Sumida City, Tokyo, Japan.  To get to Tokyo Skytree, from Shinigawa Station, take the Keikyu Line oe Toei Asakusa Line.  Or from Tokyo Station, take the JR Sobu Rapid  Line and transfer at Kinshicho for Tokyo Metro  Hanzomon Line.  Or take a subway going to Asakusa Station (Ginza Line) and walk towards Tokyo Skytree.



There is also a nearby park near the Tokyo Skytree, the Oyokogawa Shinsui Park, where the kids can enjoy free slides, swing and other activities.  







Tokyo Skytree Combo ticket - access to both skydecks is 3,500 yen for adults 18 and above. 2,350 yen for 12-17 years old and 1,450 yen for kids 6-11 years old. 
Access to 350 meter deck ticket is 2,400 yen for adults, 1,550 yen for 12-17 years old and 950 yen for kids 6-11 years old.

Tokyo Tower

 


Tokyo tower is based on the Eiffel Tower in design yet at 333 meters tall, it became the tallest free standing tower in the world when it was built in 1958.  It was surpassed by Tokyo Skytree in 2010 at 634 meters.
The tower became the symbol of Japan's post war rebirth as a major economic power.  It was built to serve as TV and radio broadcast antenna.
Tokyo Tower's exact location is at  4 Chome-2-8 Shibakoen, Minato City, Tokyo, 105-0011 Japan. You can reach it via Mita Subway Line and get off at Onarimon Station. Or you can take the Hibiya Subway Line to Kamiyacho to Akabanebashi.

Tower's opening hours are from 0900H to 2200H everyday.  Admission fee is 1200 yen (main deck only) and 3000 yen for both decks.
